I should be cleaning, since a friend is about to stop by for a few minutes, along with one person I barely know & another that I don't know at all. But instead, I thought I'd take a minute to brag on myself for hand-embroidering these:

That was just for practice, & I'll be using it to make a scented pouch for my dresser.

That is on a corner of my costume pocket for work, & tomorrow or sometime soon, I'll be adding an acorn to the other side. Too bad no one will see them!

I'm pretty proud of myself. Haha. I'm so excited to have picked up a new skill! And I just love the little squirrel! It's just so cute!

Finally Got Around to Uploading Some Pictures

... So I decided to share some with you guys. They're nothing too special, just pictures of some things I've been doing around the apartment & whatnot.

First, a couple of scarves I'm working on.

This one is for my friend Erica:

It's a nice fall-y orange & chestnut brown. I'm loving how it looks so far! I think I'm going to make one for myself with that orange & a deep purple.

This is a scarf that I started for me, but may end up selling if anyone wants it. Geeze, am I broke...

My mom loaned her sewing machine to me so that I could sew my (awesome new houndstooth!) place mats! It's about an '84 model. Loves it!

This is my fabulous new skeleton key bottle opener I've been wanting to share! I tied a ribbon around the top & hung it from one of my kitchen cabinets. 

And now, as I've been promising, the beginnings of my houndstooth kitchen!!! I made the place mats myself! (So proud, haha!) The mugs & mug tree are Princess House.

Last, but not least, I had this super cute picture of Miss Lola that I thought I'd share. Isn't she the sweetest?!

Just Another Post

Watched the first episode of American Horror Story tonight! Loved it so far! Can't wait to see more!

The only reason I posted tonight is so I could post this outfit from polyvore.

So Over Today....

My parents, grandparents, & aunt & uncle came to visit me tonight & have dinner at my apartment. I was running late, because I'm moving a more slowly than usual today, & while I was preparing the main dish, my aunt was kind enough to help me with the sides. Just as I had finished putting together the (incredibly frustrating) main dish, I was transferring it to the baking sheet when - SPLAT!!! Right into the floor it went. I could have cried. I was so excited about that recipe. But instead, I laughed, & gave my uncle a thumbs up - nothing I could do about it now. Fortunately, my mom & step-dad were out running an errand, so I just called them & asked them to bring us some chicken. And all that was left to do by the time I got the mess out of the floor was ice the cake I had already made. I felt a little bad, since the apartment wasn't as clean as I had planned on it being, & my aunt ended up doing more meal prep (for what we ate) than I did. All in all, though, it was a very pleasant evening. It's always a joy to get to see my family.

My back is hurt, & I have no idea how or why. All I know is that it hurts when I move. My parents brought me a heating pad tonight, but I've been sitting here for twenty minutes avoiding going to get it & use it because I don't want to have to move & hurt myself. Haha.

I had planned to post pictures tonight of my new place mats that I made, but I'm just not in the mood. This has been a pretty blah week. Ah, but tomorrow's another day. Onward & Upward, Onward & Upward.

Crafty-Time is Coming Soon!

Just taking a break from pinning place-mats to say that I'll be posting (what is sure to be) a very Suzy Homemaker-type blog later in the week. I've found oh-so-many cute crafting ideas, & now I've got the fever! Not to mention recipes galore that are all perfect for fall!

Started the Nellie scene today at work! It went much better than I had anticipated. Haha. I was super nervous, as I always am when starting a new program, but there was no need to be. I just psyched myself out about it. I can't wait to do it again! And I SUPER can't wait for the new Christmas programming! I want to badly to see the new coloring books!

Back to sewing now.

Tonight is nothing too exciting, but I'm pretty glad to have the plans I do: curl up with Lola, a warm cup of tea, & Netflix.

I just wanted to give a quick update about a recipe I tried this week. It's nothing special. Just pigs-in-a-blanket, but I did something special with them. I cooked the cocktail sausages in rosemary & a teeny, tiny bit of olive oil. It added just a slightly different taste, but it was definitely good! And I used spicy mustard for dipping. Yum! Nothing earth-shattering, but it's something new to try.

I Can't Believe It's September Already...

And September is nearly half-way finished! My goodness. I'd better go on & start buying Christmas gifts. With time passing at this rate, it'll be here before you know it.

Geeze, it's been so long since I've updated this thing. The last time I made a post was before I got Lola Reese.

She's the cutest thing I've ever seen. For. Realsies.

I'm so excited that fall is coming! Football season is in full swing, & it's nearly time for sweaters & scarf & everything else Fall-related! I don't think I've ever been this excited that Fall is approaching. But when I think about it, this is the first time I can remember that I've had time to slow down & think about it. And in all of my Fall excitement, I've been looking up season-appropriate recipes like a mad woman! I found some great soup recipes that I can't wait to try out!

Things are going much better now than when I last posted. I'm in much better health & spirits! And I have a cute pup!
